Monitoring of air quality by the Region of Central Greece

The Region of Central Greece proceeded in sourcing appropriate instrumentation for monitoring atmospheric pollution and especially PM10 by the Environment & Spatial Planning Directorates located in the headquarters of the Regional Units of the Region of Central Greece. The procurement was considered necessary to cover the needs with respect to its obligations towards the European legislation and in particular of the new Directive on the monitoring of air quality (Directive 2008/50 / EC) and the implementation of JMD 70601/13 (Gazette 3272 / B / 12.23.2013) as amended, supplemented and in force.

The project includes the supply and installation of fully functional air pollution particulate matter PM10 measurement equipment as well as dissemination of information to users and the public.

This project touches upon the responsibilities of the Department of Environment, Department of Environment and Spatial Planning WCC

The particulate matter measuring stations were installed in the five capitals of the Regional Units:

Specifically in the following positions:

Equipment

At each location a fully equipped air-conditioned cage is installed including a modern analyzer MP101M from the company ENVIRONNEMENT SA.

The measured parameters in each position are suspended particulates (PM10), temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure and many other analyzer operating parameters. All these measurements are recorded in real time and are available for review and update to appropriate trained staff through the innovative application AirDMS. Simultaneously the pollution index is calculated and given a suitable color scale it is output for information to the public.
